Terms of Service

The short version

The Stack Guide is a software review site. It is free, it earns from affiliate links that are disclosed, and its reviews are opinion rather than professional advice. Don't scrape it or republish it wholesale, and don't rely on it as your only source before spending money on software.

1. Agreement

By using thestackguide.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the site.

2. What this site is

We publish reviews, comparisons, best-of lists and free calculators covering AI and SaaS tools. Everything here is editorial opinion and general information. It is not legal, financial, tax, or professional advice, and it is not tailored to your business. You are responsible for your own purchasing decisions.

3. Accuracy, and what changes

Software changes faster than we can re-check it. Prices, plan limits, features and free tiers described here may be out of date by the time you read them, and we may simply be wrong. Always confirm the current details on the vendor's own site before you buy — the vendor is the source of truth, not us. If you spot something incorrect, tell us via the contact page and we will fix it.

4. Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you sign up or buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Those links go through a redirect on this site (/go/<product>) so we can see which reviews are useful. Commission does not buy a favourable review or a higher ranking. The full arrangement is set out in our Affiliate Disclosure, which forms part of these terms.

5. Cost

The site is free to use in full — every review, comparison, calculator and course — and no part of it takes payment. If we ever introduce paid features we will publish the terms covering them before charging anyone. Nothing here obliges you to pay for anything.

6. Accounts

The site is readable without an account. Where account features are enabled, sign-in is handled by Clerk. Give accurate details, keep your credentials secure, and don't share your login. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If your account can invite other members to a shared workspace, you are responsible for who you invite and for having the right to share anything you put there. Tell us at hello@thestackguide.com if you think your account has been compromised, and we can close it on request.

7. Newsletter

Subscribing is optional and needs only an email address. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time. What we store and why is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape or crawl the site at a volume that degrades it for other people, or work around rate limits.
• Republish our reviews, comparison data, or calculator logic wholesale as your own. Quoting a passage or a figure with attribution and a link is fine and welcome.
• Use our content to train a model or generate a competing review site without our permission.
• Probe, break, or attempt unauthorised access to the site, its APIs, or anyone else's account.
• Manipulate our affiliate links — including self-referral, cookie stuffing, or passing our tracking links off as your own.

9. Trademarks and third-party sites

Product names, logos and screenshots belong to their respective owners and are used to identify the tools we write about. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any vendor we review. Once you follow an outbound link you are on someone else's site, under their terms and their privacy policy — we don't control what happens there and are not responsible for it.

10. Our content

The site's writing, design and code are ours and are protected by copyright. Subject to section 8, you may read, share and link to it freely.

11. No warranty and limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee it will be accurate, uninterrupted, or available at all, and we may change or remove content at any time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or from a purchasing decision you made based on it — including money spent on software that turned out not to suit you. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and continuing to use the site afterwards means you accept the revised terms.
